Holwick Scar Sunshine and Shadows

Canvas, framed and mounted, acrylic and plain photo prints of this picture are available from my on-line shop at this link

Very strong autumn sunshine in a bright interval on the dramatic Holwick Scar. These Dolerite cliffs, formed by volcanic action, form part of the great Whin Sill which stretches acrross northern England. It can be seen at Low Force and High Force waterfalls, further upstream at Falcon Clints, on the Northumberland coast at Dunstanburgh and Cullernose Point, and offshore where it creates the Farne Islands.
