Winston Bridge
Winston Bridge

Canvas, framed and mounted, acrylic and plain photo prints of this picture are available from my on-line shop at this link

A hint of autumn starting to appear in the foliage in this view of Winston Bridge over the River Tees. Completed in 1764, its single stone arch of 111' (34 m) was the longest of its kind in Europe at the time.

This is the bridge underneath which a Spitfire was flown by Ray Hanna on July 7th 1988 and the footage used in the drama series "Piece of Cake". That same footage was, many years later, digitally remastered and used in one of the early series of Foyle's War.
